A year and a half ago, I had the pleasure of doing Day-of-Coordination for one of my college BFFs. Clark and Laura tied the knot on Fripp Island, SC where her parents have a condo. It was an absolutely gorgeous and intimate affair with every single being totally personal. I’m so excited to see a few of their images up on The Knot, and I’m thrilled to share their love with you!

Check out their theknot.com wedding album here!

Thank you Clark and Laura for not only having me as a guest at your beautiful wedding, but also allowing me to participate in a grander way! Excited for all of the adventures to come for you two.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, y’all!

I don’t know about you, but I love this “holiday.” Maybe it’s all the green, my absolute favorite color. Maybe it’s the delicious beers that we don’t mind sampling. Maybe because it means that spring is just around the corner. Whatever it is, I love it!

We have been so MIA on our blog lately, but it’s because we’ve been incredibly busy creating amazing things for some absolutely amazing clients. We’ve been so blessed over this past year to make such great friends with super fab couples with an incredible vision for their day, and we are very thankful for the vendor teams that we’ve had the opportunity to work with to truly create some wedding magic.

I’m excited to share a fun little shoot that we had the honor to collaborate on recently. It was exciting to take a step back from the planning role, and contribute to design only. Also, it is totally St. Patty’s day appropriate… look at all that green!!!

Bok Tower Gardens is just such a beautiful location, especially for a romantic garden wedding. We just love the vision that Stephanie, of Stephanie A. Smith Photography, and Jennifer, of Burkle Events, came up with. We had the opportunity to come up with some great signage, place cards, and invitation designs for this shoot. We tied in the soft colors and elegant garden feel of this gorgeous location, and allowed that to really inspire us.

All of our pieces that we designed for this shoot will be available in our Etsy shop in the coming weeks. We had so much fun creating custom pieces for this inspiration shoot, and are glad to collaborate with clients and help their vision come to life through custom decor pieces as well. Check out our shop, Oh Deer Creative, on Etsy to see our current products and to inquire about custom pieces.

Thank you Stephanie for contacting us, and bringing us along for the ride! What a beautiful vision, and the execution is just flawless. See more from this shoot on Stephanie’s blog. Can’t wait to share more from this shoot soon!

This is probably the most unique styled shoot that we have ever planned. After all that we went through with Sarah and Jared, they held a special place in our hearts and in the hearts of the vendor team that came together for their March wedding. One month after their wedding, we worked with this couples family and friends, and pulled together a surprise One-Monthiversary celebration and turned it into a styled shoot! We worked to recreate some of the special details that were destroyed during the storm that hit before their wedding, and we ended with a toast (and a little cake too).

Streamers, tassels, balloons, and all of our favorite little details pulled this shoot from the inspiration we’d dreamed about for months and saw it finally come to life.

This was such a fun few hours that we had with incredible people to reflect and smile at our shared experience. I just love how this shoot turned out, and I am so thankful that this team of vendors came together for a take 2, aren’t you?

Thank you Sarah and Jared for stealing our hearts! Thank you Shipra Panosian Photography for capturing such beautiful moments that we’ve been able to share! Thank you Milk and Honey for providing the dreamiest flowers! Thank you White in Revery for telling such beautiful story! Thank you Cypress Grove Estate House for letting us hang out and celebrate just one more time!

Didn’t you just absolutely melt over Sarah and Jared’s wedding day story? It was just too incredible to not share.

And now here is where I get giddy… the details!

We had the pleasure of working with Sarah and her amazing mother, Cecilia, over the months leading up to this wedding to brainstorm, game plan, hunt for, and create incredible details that brought this day together. I wish you could see all of the things we had planned, but due to the way the day went, not everything worked out as we planned, but it still somehow takes my breath away.

I hope you enjoy!

How stunning are these flowers? The bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages were created by Milk and Honey, and they couldn’t have been more perfect! The perfect mix of creams and blushes with the largest leaves of dusty miller that I’ve ever seen. They truly captured Sarah’s vision and created such a romantic and dreamy feel with these flowers.

I loved seeing the “pinspiration” that Sarah and I gathered over the months come to life. Friends of the couple designed the different paper elements featured in their wedding, and it just added another special element to making this day possible.

The couple opted for a cake bar instead of a traditional wedding cake, and again a friend of this couple stepped to the plate and created pure magic. So many cakes! So much icing! So much goodness!

Don’t you just love this bride’s style? The sweet little frames with messages of love. The dreamy blushes and peaches creating the most romantic spring day. God truly blessed this day in so many ways. A crazy storm couldn’t stop the love and passion and grace of this couple.

“If nothing else, know that life is going to throw a lot of different things at you. You never know what the day is going to hold. As long as you hold on to one another, and as long as you hold on to Christ, it won’t matter; because ultimately, that’s what today is all about.”

Those were the words that the groom’s father spoke to open their ceremony, and how true those words rang throughout Jared and Sarah’s wedding day.

This wedding day started with the same buzz of every other wedding that I’ve had the pleasure of working. My staff and I were busy running around finalizing details, hanging décor, setting tables, and placing centerpieces. The bride and her best friends tucked away getting their hair and makeup done—laughing, giggling, and enjoying their time together. The photographers and videographers captured all of these special moments as they came and went.

As the day progressed, the sky darkened, the wind started blowing, and we kept on working and adjusting our plans for the day. Cell phone weather warnings began alerting us that there was a tornado warning and touch downs in the area, and moments later we were in the midst of an incredible storm. We rushed to grab as much as we could, save the DJ equipment, and hurry to safety as vases flew across the grounds and visibility was down to what was directly in front of us. As the storm passed through and we could see what we were left with, and we were all left devastated. A tent pole had been snapped leaving the tent unusable, vases broken, flowers tossed everywhere, chairs broken and blown away, branches down all over, and we were left powerless in more ways than just being without electricity.

What happened next was incredible—all of the incredible vendors got to work without missing a beat, and the sun slowly started peaking its way out. It was all hands on deck and no one had a single responsibility. The DJ team was off finding generators and getting them up and running so we could still have music for the ceremony and reception. We became yardmen clearing away fallen moss, branches, and anything in the way. The staff from the venue began collecting broken chairs, and salvaging any décor that they could. It was truly a labor of love.

With just an hour before go time, we were cleaning up and readjusting and coming up with a new plan of how the day would run. We were creating new décor pieces on the fly, and decorating our hearts out all while staying positive and hopeful about what the remainder of the day would bring. What happens when your backup plans for your backup plans fall through? You figure out new ways to make things work!

Though the ceremony kicked off late, the show went on, and it couldn’t have been more special. No, it was not as planned, but it will be in the memories of this couple, their family, and their friends forever. The ceremony happened outside (something I promised Sarah, the bride, that we would figure out a way to make happen), all of the guests stood and gathered close, and as Jared saw his beautiful bride walking towards him for the first time that day I doubt there was a dry eye watching.

“And you never know what the day is going to hold, as long as you hold on to one another, and you hold on to Christ, it won’t matter…”

With all of the challenges that we faced on that Sunday in March, something beautiful still happened. We made lifelong friendships with the vendors, family, and an amazing couple. We pulled off what seemed to be impossible as individuals and as a team. A wonderful wedding took place and a beautiful marriage began.

Life and love will always bring incredible challenge, but if we learn to weather the storm, we will appreciate each ray of sunshine. Jared and Sarah faced their first storm as a married couple on their wedding day, but they faced this day with the most incredible beauty and grace.

How lucky are we to be a part of something so great?!?

The details were just too much for me to handle, that I decided to share them in a separate post all their own. See more of Sarah and Jared’s wedding here!

(Thinking some images from the video look like they’re from a different day? You’re right! Check out Sarah + Jared’s One-Monthiversary shoot that all of these wonderful vendors came together and surprised them with!)

Oh, and despite what was thrown at us, how incredible did the photos and video come together? Sarah and Jared chose a great team of vendors to make their wedding day happen!
